Vignon Oussa was born in West Africa (Benin) from an educated middle class African family. His father was an Ophtamologist doctor and his mother a registered nurse. The young Vignon at an early age already understood the importance of education. His passion for arts started in elementary school. Back then, his best friend Tchiakpe Christian inspired him to draw cartoons and comics. No one knew that, 20 years later Vignon would still be as passionate was he was at his tender age. A couple years has past before he met his first mentor: Adogra. Adogra was a street painter with a very unique style. He took Vignon under his wings and taught him his very first painting lessons. A few years passed and Vignon met Ada a Nigerian painter who was runnig an art gallery near the lake of Calavi. The attraction was instantaneous. Vignon felt in love right away with the artist work and begin to spend a lot of his times with the painter. Ada was not the friendliest person and Vignon felt closer to his protégé Zannou Ponce. This friendship would turn out to be the biggest artistic influence in Vignon’s work and style. Years have passed by, and Vignon moved to the USA, pursuing a Doctorate degree in Mathematics. However, he never lost his passion for his first love: painting. Between jobs, school and music studio times, Vignon is still picking up his brushes.
